Our son Tyler is a great kid.  Since the age of 2, he has exhibited an uncanny ability to drive.  Whether it’s the Playstation or his john deer tractor power wheel, if it could drive, Tyler drove it.  He has been setting up  and driving solo courses in the backyard now for years.    In 2007, the SCCA experimented with 5-7 year old kid kart class.(FJC)   Tyler turned 5 on March 31 2007 and raced his first wheel to wheel race with 15 other kid karts at Concept Haulers Motor Speedway in Norway , IL.  One week later he competed in his first SCCA solo event with the Chicago Region SCCA at Rt 66 in Joliet, IL.  As far as we know he was the youngest SCCA competitor ever.   Running the first SCCA course he had the general flow of the course, having DNF’ed the first few runs but managing a couple of clean runs by the end of the day.  He continued to finish out the season.  In 2008 the SCCA officially adopted FJC on a regional level. Tyler has continued to do very well and consistently goes out and runs 6 clean runs. Tyler also runs the full season with Salt Creek Sports car Club, running the events at Maywood park, and he will also be running at Tire Rack with SCSCC. Mom and Dad are so proud!
